Yet I will
rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.
Habakkuk 3:18
JOY
Joy often times is
thought to be an emotional expression, but in reality
it is the very substance which is the reason for such
expressions. Sometimes the reason for joyful worship
and praise may be visible, and at other times no clear
reason, all to show that true joy is not subject to
temporal things! Let us look into the conditions that
surrounded the prophet in this passage of scripture.
"although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall
fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall
fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock
shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be
no herd in the stalls:".In these lines there is no
natural reason for rejoicing, but yet the prophet declares
"yet i will rejoice in the lord".No figs, no wine,
no oil to cook with and nothing to cook. No meat from the
field nor the stall, where then is this joy from.
"i will joy in the god of my salvation."In God
we can truly rejoice in the midst of tribulation, because
"the lord god is my strength", He also is our joy,
our substance, our hope. Lord when everything is going right
or wrong, let us look unto you and rejoice in the God of
our salvation!
